June 2012 Midsummer on Lough Corrib

This year I really enjoyed June, the weather was better and the childhood memories of the long fine evenings were reawakened. Lough Corrib has fished well for Salmon in particular along the Glann Shore and especially in Cong, where words like “stuffed with salmon” were used.

Unfortunately  Uchiumi Junichi, who traveled all the way from Japan in search of a salmon, was not so lucky, despite all his best efforts the salmon eluded him, but as anyone knows about salmon fishing, it can be very frustrating. Uchiumi had better success last year and has vowed to return again soon

The most notable catch in early June was Maurizio Cervelli with his beautiful 3lb trout, caught spinning – and very tasty it was too!

In June we launched our new website which has generated some good feedback so thank you to all. As part of the new look  and being more user friendly we have added a facility to book boats directly on line. Of course we are always happy to take a booking by phone or e-mail too.

At this time of year many of our guests are day trippers, exploring the many islands of Lough Corrib or walking the Western Way, which is always a popular challenge. Armed with our healthy packed lunch  an enjoyable day is promised.

Here at Camillaun Lodge all is well, the bees are busy collecting the neighbours’ nectar, the flowers are blooming and our training for the October Kilimanjaro climb is progressing well.

Don’t forget we have a special fishing package for September with 2 nights B&B with 2 days boathire, packed lunch for €140 per person sharing.
