Winter Shortened by GAA Bonanza

Well as the winter comes we must bring home all the boats and tidy everything away for the next season. Its a busy time as the days shorten and the winter always seems long. Not this year, Oughterard’s Intermediate football team went on a winning spree that saw them put in some amazing performances and be crowned County Champions following a drawn final, a replay and a penalty shootout against Michael Breathnach’s. Then they were crowned Connacht Champions following the defeat of The Neale in McHale Park and on to the All Ireland Intermediate Semi-Final against Templenoe a much fancied Kerry team. Again Oughterard nosed in front by a goal and it was on to Croke Park for the All Ireland Intermediate final against Magheracloone. Here the underdogs from Connemara again upset the odds and the night of all nights was to come – a truly epic journey was complete.
