Every year we plant hanging baskets around the house in memory of my mum. Some years they are good others probably not so good, it all depends on two key factors, when you get time to plant them (if its too late they don’t grow so well) and if the summer is very sunny, then you will get the best out of them. Well, 2021 was one of the good years and the blooms were at their best in early September. We also have some amazing trailing Fuschia plants that are basically ‘bonsai’ as we have grown them in the baskets for over 20 years – yes, the same plants, there are just three of them but they thrive each year. We have to be careful over-wintering them so they dry out in the garage during the winter and we then move them outside for repotting in the spring.
